Value Frequency Table Generator Online
Free online tool · No signup · Runs in your browser
Count distinct values in a selected spreadsheet column and show each value’s percentage.
Your data stays in this browser tool. No account or upload to a processing service required.
Instructions
- Paste a table with a header, choose a column and decide whether to include empty cells.
- Count values, review the table and download.
- Results appear in the order values are first encountered.
- Percentages use only included rows.
Understanding your result
In the sample, Sales appears twice out of four rows, or 50%. Support and Operations each appear once. Percentages use the included rows, so excluding empty cells changes the denominator. Compare totals with the records you intended to count.
What to do if you have a problem
If the same category appears more than once, inspect spaces and capitalization. If the output contains only a header, check whether all selected values are empty and excluded. Clean categories deliberately before counting if your task should treat those text differences as equivalent.
What to know before using the result
Matching is exact and case-sensitive. Spaces are significant; whitespace-only cells are distinct from empty cells. The header is excluded. An all-empty column with empty cells excluded produces a header-only report. Input limit: 2 MB and 20,000 rows including the header. This reports frequencies, not statistical significance.
These tools work with pasted text or supported CSV files rather than Excel workbook files. CSV exports contain values and do not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple worksheets. Formula builders produce formula text to use in Excel. Data processing runs in the browser tool.
