CSV to UTF-8 Converter Online
Free online tool · No signup · Runs in your browser
Decode a local CSV file in a selected character encoding and export UTF-8.
Your data stays in this browser tool. No account or upload to a processing service required.
Instructions
- Choose a file, its actual source encoding and delimiter.
- Optionally include a UTF-8 BOM.
- Convert and check accented characters before downloading.
Understanding your result
For the sample, Zoë and Montréal should keep their accents in the UTF-8 result. Use names or symbols you recognize to judge the conversion. A file that opens without an error can still contain the wrong characters if you selected the wrong source encoding.
What to do if you have a problem
If accents look wrong, return to the original file and change the source encoding. Converting the already damaged output again cannot restore the original bytes. Try the BOM option when your destination needs it to recognize UTF-8, then inspect the imported text.
What to know before using the result
Maximum 2 MB and 20,000 rows. Conversion is not guaranteed lossless: a wrong encoding can change characters, and damaged text cannot be restored. Invalid source byte sequences are rejected. No automatic encoding detection.
These tools work with pasted text or supported CSV files rather than Excel workbook files. CSV exports contain values and do not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple worksheets. Formula builders produce formula text to use in Excel. Data processing runs in the browser tool.

Summary
Download UTF-8 data after confirming that familiar accents and symbols survived decoding.
