Excel Formula Separator Converter Online

Free online tool · No signup · Runs in your browser

Convert comma and semicolon argument separators while preserving quoted text, sheet names and array constants.

Your data stays in this browser tool. No account or upload to a processing service required.

Instructions

  1. Paste a formula beginning with =.
  2. Choose its current and target argument separators, then convert.
  3. Copy or download the result as plain formula text.

Understanding your result

The sample can change IF argument commas to semicolons while retaining the comma in “Yes, please”. That distinction helps adapt a formula to an Excel installation using a different separator. The resulting text still needs to refer to valid cells and functions.

What to do if you have a problem

If conversion fails, inspect balanced parentheses and quotes, including quotes around sheet names. If Excel still refuses the output, check function names and decimal conventions separately. Changing argument punctuation does not translate every part of a formula to another locale.

What to know before using the result

Converts separators only. Does not translate function names, decimal marks or dates, and does not evaluate or validate formula semantics. Preserves bracketed references and balanced quoted strings. Array column separators change between commas and backslashes; row semicolons stay unchanged. Nested array constants and unbalanced delimiters are rejected.

These tools work with pasted text or supported CSV files rather than Excel workbook files. CSV exports contain values and do not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple worksheets. Formula builders produce formula text to use in Excel. Data processing runs in the browser tool.

Try an example

=IF(A2>10,"Yes, please","No")

Summary

Copy the formula with the argument separator your Excel installation expects, then check it in the workbook.
