Sort Spreadsheet Rows Online
Free online tool · No signup · Runs in your browser
Sort CSV rows stably by text or numeric values while optionally preserving a header.
Your data stays in this browser tool. No account or upload to a processing service required.
Instructions
- Choose the column number, value type, direction, and header option.
- For numeric sorting choose whether to reject invalid values or place them last.
- Click Sort rows and download.
Understanding your result
Numeric sorting places 2 before 10; text sorting can order the same strings differently. Equal values keep their source order. Select the type that matches your column, then check the first and last records as well as any repeated values.
What to do if you have a problem
If a numeric sort is rejected, inspect blanks and symbols such as currency marks. Use the option to retain invalid values last when that suits your task. If names appear in an unexpected order, remember the text comparison uses character order rather than a language-specific dictionary order.
What to know before using the result
Maximum 2 MB and 20,000 rows. Equal values retain source order. Text uses case-sensitive character order, not language-specific collation. Blank/invalid numeric values can be rejected or retained last in either direction. Ragged rows are rejected.
These tools work with pasted text or supported CSV files rather than Excel workbook files. CSV exports contain values and do not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple worksheets. Formula builders produce formula text to use in Excel. Data processing runs in the browser tool.
