Find and Replace in CSV Columns Online
Free online tool · No signup · Runs in your browser
Find and replace text in selected columns while keeping the header row unchanged.
Your data stays in this browser tool. No account or upload to a processing service required.
Instructions
- Paste a table, enter column numbers or leave the field blank for all columns, and enter find and replacement text.
- Choose literal or restricted regex matching and case sensitivity.
- Review the result before downloading.
Understanding your result
Replacing Old team with New team in sample column 2 changes both team cells while leaving Name and Team headings intact. Start with literal matching for an ordinary phrase. A regex changes how the find text is interpreted and needs its own review.
What to do if you have a problem
If the text is not replaced, check selected columns, spaces and case sensitivity. If a regex is refused, simplify it to the supported syntax. Replacement text is literal, so entering $1 does not insert a captured group. Review unrelated rows for unintended matches.
What to know before using the result
Regex supports character classes, anchors, dots and optional characters. Groups, alternation, backreferences and repetition are disabled to protect browser responsiveness. Replacement is literal, so $1 is not a capture substitution. Find text is limited to 200 characters; replacements and processed cells to 10,000 characters. Maximum 2 MB and 20,000 rows.
These tools work with pasted text or supported CSV files rather than Excel workbook files. CSV exports contain values and do not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple worksheets. Formula builders produce formula text to use in Excel. Data processing runs in the browser tool.

Summary
Export the replacements after checking both intended matches and values that should stay untouched.
