Understanding your result
Grouping the sample by Region and Product and summing Sales gives East/Pen a total of 20. Count measures rows, so those two Pen entries count as 2 regardless of their sales values. Read the skipped-value message when choosing sum or average.
What to do if you have a problem
If a group total is blank, check for currency symbols, commas or missing numeric values. If one category becomes several groups, inspect capitalization and spaces in grouping cells. Remove pre-existing totals from the source if they would double-count the data you want summarized.
What to know before using the result
Creates a flat grouped summary rather than an interactive Excel PivotTable. Numeric values require a dot decimal and no currency symbols or thousands separators. Sum and average skip blank or invalid values; groups with no valid numbers show a blank. Uses JavaScript numeric precision. Grouping is exact and case-sensitive. Maximum 2 MB and 20,000 rows.
These tools work with pasted text or supported CSV files rather than Excel workbook files. CSV exports contain values and do not preserve workbook formatting, formulas or multiple worksheets. Formula builders produce formula text to use in Excel. Data processing runs in the browser tool.
